UA is bringing a new challenge to runners across the globe this month — the ‘ALL OUT Mile.’

With its latest global running challenge, Under Armour wants to inspire people of all abilities to get out and run a mile. For some, it can be used to train or to break their mile PR; for others, to start a new routine.

“UA recognizes the physical and mental benefits of running — even if it’s just a mile a day,” the Under Armour team wrote. “It’s for that reason, and our unwavering mission to help athletes get better, that Under Armour is paying tribute to a globally revered event — the mile.”

Announced yesterday, registration for the ALL OUT Mile challenge is open now through August 29.

Challenge Accepted: Running the Mile

For some, a mile may seem small, and for others, it can seem dauntingly long, but either way, it’s a challenge for all. Here’s how the ALL OUT challenge will work:

  • First, register to participate.
  • Second, set your benchmark mile time.
  • Third, train (officially from August 30 to September 30). Make sure to track all of your runs by linking your UA MapMyRun account.
  • Fourth, participate! The actual competition portion of the challenge runs from October 1 to 11.

Throughout the challenge, UA’s professional athletes, coaches, and “Human Performance” experts will provide training plans and video tips. The ultimate goal? To help runners everywhere hit their fastest mile in 30 days.

The ALL OUT competition portion of the challenge can mean whatever you want it to: compete against yourself to crush your PR, or race against friends, or both! Once registered, participants can join teams and can see their rankings on a global leaderboard.

Did we mention there are prizes for the fastest individuals and teams? Prizes range between $250 and $15,000 in cash, gear, and donations to the youth sports charity of your team’s choice.

The challenge is open to people living in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Poland, Germany, South Africa, and Japan.
