‘Technical’ Bikini — Patagonia Nanogrip

A bikini? Yes, the polyurethane nano fiber used here creates more surface area when wet, making it suction to the skin and stay in place, even in big surf, rock jumping, or other forceful water activities, Patagonia claims.

Our tester inspected it and she came back stoked — the top secures in the back with cross-back adjustable ties and is lined in the front with the slip-resistant fabric. The Side Tie Bottoms, designed with Patagonia’s female surf ambassadors and tested in big waves in Tahiti, are narrow cut so they don’t catch water.

Said our female correspondent, “I had never heard of a technical bikini before, but when I felt the underside material of the Patagonia bikini, I understood the technicality of it — the material grips to skin when wet, making it so that there is no possibility of losing your suit or having the dreaded ‘boob slip’ when coming up for air after a big wave or cliff jump.”
