Pacific Crest Trail 2016 Packing It Out

In 2015, three young thru-hikers created the 'Packing It Out' project to pick up garbage along the Appalachian Trail. The result was 2,189 miles backpacked and 1,090 pounds of trash cleaned from the trail. This year, with the help of REI, GearJunkie is partnering with 'Packing It Out' to give the same cleanup attention to the Pacific Crest Trail, and we'll document the journey and cleanup mission from Mexico to the Canadian border. Watch for updates beginning in April and through summer 2016 as the crew completes the trail!
