A sauna, a portable hot tub, a campfire, and a hole cut in the lake ice — those are the ingredients for the Night Water Butterflies, a group in Minneapolis that gathers each month over the winter to plunge into dark, icy water for a shock of reality in the arctic climate of the North.
We took part in the February event, interviewing Night Water Butterflies’ founder Sveta Vold, a transplant from Belarus, and one of her partners in polar crime, Garrick Yoong.
Jump into the icy waters with them in this video, shot and edited by Erik Nelson as a part of a new series, GearJunkie TV.
