Our “From The Field” column gives a quick look at gear in testing from the GearJunkie staff and readers around the country and the world.

The Scene: Contributing writer Chelsey Magness hit the Oregon backcountry last week on a multi-day tour. It got so warm one day that she decided to shred in a bikini.

The Gear: Patagonia’s Kupala bikini top ($55) and Sunamee bottoms ($45) are made from a nylon/spandex material. Patagonia markets the setup as “super supportive,” which Chelsey tested and approved while on the backcountry slopes.

Feedback: “I went on a four-day backcountry ski/boarding trip in the Wallowas and the weather was amazing — almost too warm! The Patagonia bikini fit great — I skinned in it all day and didn’t get any chafing. Everything fit, and nothing fell out during my ascent or descent, so that is a plus for me!”
