Red Bull’s film Originate follows big-mountain skier Michelle Parker as she tackles some of the steepest, most unforgiving lines of Haines, Alaska.

At 15 minutes long, “Originate,” sponsored by Red Bull and created by Reel Water Productions and director Cameron Sylvester, stands above many other quality outdoor films as the Vimeo Staff Pick Award at the 2020 MountainFilm Festival.

And watching the film, it’s clear why it won viewers over. Sure, the cinematography is spectacular. The big-mountain ski scenes will blow your mind. But even better is the story of Parker’s growth as a skier.

As the film notes, “We discover that her metric for success isn’t measured by competition, Alaskan spines, or blower pow, but found within.”
