Milled from a solid piece of walnut, the Lenkr handlebars are a refreshing alternative in a world of alloys and carbon, and a slice of classic style.

They’re not pure wood — each of these handlebars has an inner aluminum core that the company says is strong and durable “compared to other wooden handlebars.”

Creator Philipp Wuthe looked for a wood handlebar two years ago with no luck. He decided to partner with a woodworker in Germany to refine the concept.

Metal inserts add strength

Made on a lathe, the handlebars come in two thicknesses for common bike stem mounts (31.8mm and 25.4mm). They weigh 285 and 160 grams respectively.

Running through the center of the wood is an aluminum pipe that provides strength to the handlebars. The setup is finished with end caps for a refined look.
