GoBe Solar Briefcase

Designed more for car camping than backcountry adventures, GoBe Solar Briefcase and Power Hub are a power-packing duo that can charge nearly any small electronic device. The briefcase-size solar unit charges the included storage unit in about 10 hours. The company claims it provides enough energy to power a laptop for up to six hours.

Opening the briefcase reveals a large array of solar photovoltaic panels that harvest sun energy and transfer it via cord to the hub. To power your phone, mp3 player, laptop, DVD player or other electronic device, the 9-pound hub has USB, AC and DC outlets.

You can pre-charge the 10.5-watt hub at home with a wall outlet in case it’s too cloudy to get a good solar charge at camp. The GoBe duo is currently available for $180, and the company plans to launch additional models in spring. www.gobesolar.com
