The Otium SoftRack is a large padded block with attachment points for lashing long objects to the roof of your car. It’s designed for vehicles that do not have factory roof racks, and advertised to fit any car type.

From ladders to skis or surfboards, the system mounts just about anything via simple webbing straps. Its underside is coated with a rubber material so it won’t slide around as you drive.

The system is essentially a pair of canvas-covered foam blocks. They are outfitted with a nylon strap that slides through loops on top.

To hook it onto the car, the straps loop through the doors of your auto and are tightened down.

The company claims install time of less than two minutes. The whole thing weighs about 4 pounds.

Otium is seeking funding for the first run of the rack system. Priced at $125, this is a budget solution. It’s easy to get on and off and makes that last minute canoe trip to the lake one step easier.
