For 10 years, Pit Viper has been lighting up the sunglass world with big frames and bright colors. From flip-ups to big, fat goggles, this eyewear brand offers performance and retro style.
If a skier could take an aprés soak in a hot tub time machine to party with Spuds Mackenzie, Pit Vipers are the sunglasses they’d want to wear. But don’t let the Ultimate Warrior flair fool you — the brand mixes performance with adjustability and affordability to carve out its niche in the optics world.
The brand’s first goal is to make sunglasses and goggles that perform in the sun and snow and withstand day-to-day wear and tear. That applies to all its different frame styles with polarized optics, adjustable fit, and rubberized touchpoints.
If you charge all day, be it on the slopes, on pedals, or on the coast, these sunglasses may liven up your view.

Pit Viper was born from a desire to make a pair of sunglasses that could hold up to adventures, on and off the slopes. In 2012, founder Chuck Mumford started tinkering with designs that could hold up to being stored in pockets or glove compartments and still deliver relief from the sun and wind when needed. Mumford found a partner in Chris Garcin, and together they brought Pit Viper from the Rocky Mountains to the world stage.
They built the brand with a baked-in sense of fun and light-heartedness. Of course, there’s also the design aesthetic that leans heavily on the bold patterns and bright colors of the ’80s. They’re also larger than a lot of other frames on the market, which helps cover more peripheral vision, according to the brand.
It’s likely you’ve already seen them in the wild, if not on the faces of brand ambassadors like Travis Pastrana, Rob Gronkowski, or Toni Breidinger.

Gogglés Grande
Pit Viper thinks big noggins deserve big frames with big fields of vision. These Grande goggles let those of us with larger heads get in on the fun. They also fit two interchangeable anti-fog lenses for use in high-exposure and low-light conditions.
They offer 100% UV protection, have a rubberized strap, and put triple-layer foam against your face.

These aviator-style frames have spring-hinge arms and rubberized grips for the ears and nose pieces. These protect against UVA and UVB rays and are prescription-compatible.
Shop NowLift-Offs
Like the Flight Optics, the Lift-Offs protect from UV rays with 2.2mm lenses that are compatible with prescriptions.
The big difference: These flip up! That can help you quickly adjust your view when riding through patches of shady terrain, or look cool when you’re shagging fly balls during your beer league softball game.

The oversized Flip-Off Monolens lists a light transmission of 14% and protects its wide view from UV rays. The Nosepiece grip and Curveball earpiece hold these polycarbonate lenses in front of your face.

These classic, roomy frames were redesigned to dial the fit and adjustment areas. If you’ve read this far, you know the drill: polycarbonate lenses, roughly 2 mm thick, keep UVA and UVB rays away from your eyes.
