Believe it or not, spring riding is right around the corner. To make sure you are fully prepared, Rab announced its first-ever adventure-specific cycling collection — the Cinder range.
Rab headlines the collection with the Phantom Jacket, a sub-100g, 2.5-layer, waterproof-breathable hardshell layer with features tailor-made for long days on gravel roads or singletrack. For instance, it’s got a frame-attachable stuff sack! Other details include a silicone grip drop hem and sleeves cut with riding in mind.
Rab Cinder Range Jackets
“Off-road cycling adventures require immense versatility. Dealing with terrain, pace, and fickle weather. We have over 40 years of knowledge and experience crafting clothing and equipment to manage these conditions,” said Tim Fish, Rab Equipment Product Director, said in a press release. “This season we’re introducing a new cycling collection, combining that experience with a finely tuned fit to enable adventure and exploration.”
The Rab Cinder Kinetic Jacket is also of interest. Technically a softshell, the jacket utilizes a proprietary fabric called Proflex. According to Rab, the fabric is “made by sandwiching a bespoke PU hydrophilic membrane between two high gauge knit fabrics.”
If it works as advertised, the Rab Kinetic Jacket should provide waterproof protection without the crinkle and limited stretch of traditional hardshell. Will that knit fabric absorb water though? Time and testing will tell if Proflex is indeed a “true revolution in waterproof technology.”
Other Rab Cinder Range Products
Is there such a thing as a “gravel-specific” chamois? Rab says there is and has put one in the Cinder bibs, liner shorts, and cargo shorts. “We put over 50 pads through rigorous testing and refined them down to the perfect choice,” the company claims.
Rab hasn’t announced an MSRP on any of the Cinder range yet, but you can continue exploring the collection here.
