Subaru recently announced a new recall that affects close to 200,000 vehicles.
Subaru’s latest recall should make owners take note. The recall regards the low-pressure fuel pump, which, if faulty, could fail and cause engines to stall while driving.
“If the low pressure fuel pump fails, the engine may stall, increasing the risk of a crash,” reported the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The recall affects 188,207 vehicles in these models, manufactured in 2019: Subaru Imprezas, Ascents, Crosstreks, and Outbacks.
“If the low pressure fuel pump becomes inoperative, the check engine warning light or malfunction indicator light may illuminate,” reported Subaru.
What to Do About the Subaru Recall
Not all fuel pumps in all vehicles are inoperative. Check your Subaru vehicle for a recall online here according to VIN, or with the NHTSA.
Subaru owners can also call customer service at 1-844-373-6614 to schedule a recall repair appointment. Dealers will replace the faulty fuel pump, as well as anything damaged by the recall condition, free of charge.

Subaru will notify owners of the recall within the next 60 days and will begin repairing affected vehicles on June 5, as the remedy parts for this recall will not arrive until later this month.
Subaru’s number for this recall is WRD-20. The recall only affects the 2019 models listed above.
