Would you like to spend your vacation tired, wet, dirty, and possibly terrified? If so, this might be your perfect getaway.
For anyone who would trade their lawn chair and suntan lotion for a good pair of hiking boots and a hunting knife, your dream resort is about to become a reality.
The proposed Caerau Parc Adventure Resort in Afan Valley, South Wales, announced a partnership with the Bear Grylls Survival Academy. According to FJP Investments, which is funding Caerau Parc, the vacation spot will offer guests numerous outdoor activities. These include mountain biking, hiking, zip lining, skiing, and more.
Visitors can also to test their mettle by completing survival courses developed by the man who made drinking your own urine a must-see TV event.
A representative for the academy told us there will be family, adult, and corporate team-building courses. The academy is also seeking to house its headquarters at Caerau Parc.
Afan Valley Adventure Resort
Afan Valley is already a popular mountain biking destination, with over 90,000 bikers visiting last year, according to a report by Wales Online.
The resort and survival academy will span about 485 acres of forests, streams, and countryside. Activities will be year-round, including skiing, which suggests the runs could be on dry slopes. No date has yet been announced for the resort’s completion.
Visitors will also have access to indoor trampolines, an “aquatic adventure park,” paintball course, rock climbing, and “ninja warrior course,” according to FJP Investments.
Bear Grylls Survival Academy
There’s no word on the specifics of the survival skills courses that will be available. But Bear Grylls’s Survival Academy currently offers single- and multi-day clinics for children and adults.
And if eating bugs and guzzling “gray water” are more adventure than you’re looking for, FJP announced Caerau Parc will have restaurants, cafes, bars, and a five-star hotel. Visitors can also rent one of over 800 one- to four-bedroom lodges on the property that include jacuzzis and smart TVs.
And perhaps most impressively, FJP claims the entire facility will be powered by a 25-acre solar energy farm.
