If you ever wanted to see what the Midwest would look like if it were part of a fantasy story, now’s your chance.
Artist Levi Mills of Fort Atkinson, Wis., created maps of Minnesota and Wisconsin that look like something you might fold out in the back of a “Game of Thrones” novel. The map shows the states’ diverse landscapes and natural features in a colorful and whimsical style.
The rich watercolors and tiny topographical features highlight more than 100 cities and natural landmarks around the two states. Minnesota’s lakes and rivers are prominently featured along with Wisconsin’s “North Woods.”
Babe the Blue Ox, Paul Bunyan’s loyal companion, even makes an appearance in the center of the compass rose. Wisconsin, of course, has a block of cheese prominently placed in the center of its compass.
Prints of the watercolor maps can be purchased on Mills’ Etsy site for $14.99.
There’s no word as to whether Mills will create maps for other regions, but we hope he lends his skills to a few more places, at least in the Midwest.
