A Word from Emma Athena

I’m a journalist, editor, and professional gear tester. I was born in Northern California, raised in Europe, educated in Rhode Island, and have made a home in Colorado, where I’ve slept in snow caves, set speed records on 14ers, and biked hundreds of miles over the years. My work revolves around where gear, humans, the environment, and public policy intersect. When I’m not outside or writing about being outside at my computer, I’m reading in the sun or playing soccer with my pup, Paco.
