How much can you accomplish in a single weekend? The goal to accomplish the most audacious, bold, or ambitious epic adventure in a defined “weekend” timeframe inspires a new project called BeatMonday.
Launched by Leadman Jason Antin and Mike Chambers, BeatMonday challenges weekend warriors to up their game, big time.
“The rules are simple; we have one weekend (64 hours) to complete each objective. The clock to BeatMonday starts at 5 p.m. on Friday, and ends at 9 a.m. on Monday.”
Other than that, it’s open game.
Antin and Chambers already set the bar crazy high. The duo left their respective jobs in Denver, Colo., and Boston., Mass, at 5 p.m. on June 3. Their objective was the summit of Mount Rainier.
“Both of us run start ups, and have very limited vacation time, but still want to get out and adventure. That was the catalyst to do these bold adventures in a short time frame.”
They accomplished the feat, a darned impressive climb given 64 hours to not only scale and descend the mountain, but also get to and from the airport, to and from the base, and fly across the country. Check out the jam-packed trip report on page 2!
Oh, provisioning and packing is allowed before the clock strikes 5:00.
“It might change your social life during the week a little,” Antin joked, noting that evening hours become prep time for these intense expeditions.
At this point, the group has dreamed up some seriously nuts ideas for a single weekend. With flights being not-so-cheap to some far flung locales, most folks would probably want to spend more than a day or two exploring these incredible places.
But then again, for those with way more money than time, it’s a darned cool idea. All you have is a weekend? Don’t let that stop you from running with the bulls in Pamplona or motorcycling across the island of Hispaniola. And their next adventure? Climbing Volcanos in Ecuador. Not a bad weekend.
Go big or go home!
That’s sort of the idea anyway. Check out some of the adventures, and sign up if you’d like. You’ll get emails about what others are doing over the weekend, and can help contribute to the repository of info about crazy weekend adventures. It’s free, and the adventures are sure to inspire.
