Donkey Label socks & chamois cream

Great socks and chamois cream can make multi-day riding trips a helluva lot more pleasant. When the bell rang, Donkey Label’s merino socks ($20) and chamois cream ($25) answered the call day in and day out.

A single pair of Donkey Label merino socks lasted six days without a problem. Yet another reminder of the wonders of merino’s anti-microbial properties. The socks breathe well, and I was particularly impressed by the fit — just the right amount of tightness to gain a slight compression benefit. Socks are just socks… Until they’re as good as these.

The Donkey Label chamois balm is a straight-up delight. Made by hand in small batches from organic ingredients, the balm is slightly cooling with a nice scent. Essential oils prevent saddle sores and keep your skin from drying out. It felt more like a skin care product than a bike product, with prermium ingredients like beeswax, avocado oil, lavender, and chamomile. It’s not the cheapest stuff out there, but you’ll only have yourself to blame when you skimp on undercarriage care.
