Training Wheels to Trailblazing: How 19 Cyclists Made It Big

Teton Gravity Research’s latest film, ‘Accomplice,’ showcases the evolution of some of the greatest riders of our time.

What’s your first memory of riding? It’s a question every athlete gets asked, and the answer is the same across the board: It has something to do with that first bike.

Whether it was on a tricycle or bike with training wheels, whether it was at age 2 or age 6, these athletes all agree that their first experience was more formative than they could have imagined.

“Accomplice” is Teton Gravity Research’s latest film and an homage to the bicycle. Directed by Jeremy Grant, Accomplice is a 45-minute compilation of athlete edits, early age footage, epic trail shots, interviews, and more.

“Accomplice has all the elements of a traditional action sports film. We have the best athletes in mountain biking riding in the most extreme, remote locations, doing some of the craziest rides in the world,” said Grant.

“But it also comes from a place of authenticity that all of us feel about riding. Because of that, ‘Accomplice’ is really about the audience as much as it is about the athletes on the screen.”

The ‘Accomplice’ Film Tour

“On the surface, ‘Accomplice’ takes you to mind-blowing locations across the globe with the world’s top riders,” reads the film description. But it’s definitely more than that. It’s an ode to the perseverance of these athletes and the magic of a bike.

The coolest part about this new film is the “Accomplice” film tour. Due to COVID-19, it will be premiering at drive-in theaters around the world. TGR will also be hosting virtual film events. Check out the film tour schedule here to find a showing near you.
