From the ethereal beauty of fire to the tangible beauty of bikes, trail-builder Bill McLane takes us behind the scenes of the story of his career.

Bill McLane is a forest firefighter during one season and a trail-builder during the other. The two careers fuel each other and allow McLane to live his life just the way he wants.

In “Billder,” filmmaker Scott Secco dives into McLane’s passion: What started as a hobby is what McLane now calls paradise.

McLane’s work has helped shape biking trails all over Vancouver Island and British Columbia. “You have to like the work — and work super hard,” says McLane in the film.

Now, he’s done enough of that work to give him a following. People know that trails with his name on it are the ones to ride.
