Olympic champion, American hero, and the king of surfing, Duke Kahanamoku, is coming to the big screen in a documentary. It promises a deep dive into one of America’s greatest sporting icons.

“Waterman” unravels Kahanamoku’s storied legacy, following his journey to becoming a legendary swimmer, surfer, and trailblazer of his day.

From his unrivaled ascent in Olympic swimming to his pioneering work in the world of surfing, the five-time Olympic medalist and Native Hawaiian shattered records and brought surfing to the world — though he encountered plenty of challenges along the way.

The award-winning documentary from Sidewinder Films features interviews with some modern-day surfing icons including Kelly Slater, Carissa Moore, Jack Johnson, Duane DeSoto, and Laird Hamilton.
