Multi-tools became popular with the debut of the Leatherman in 1984. Today, the category is broad and sometimes downright strange, including (case in point) this comb tool, which debuted this fall.
File this in the “well that’s weird” category.
The Headgehog “multifunction comb that fits in your wallet” has a bunch of simple tools stamped out of a thin card of stainless steel, including a bottle opener, four wrenches, a screwdriver, and a phone holder.
It has possibly the most pointless tool yet in a multi-tool designed for daily carry — a chip clip.
But the real star of this goofy design is the comb. At 3.37” you can use this unit to comb your hair in any emergency….
The Hedgehog is not expensive, selling for $12 in a variety of colors on fund-raising site Kickstarter. And while it might be one of the least-practical multi-tools, it is definitely one of the most unique (and it has surpassed a funding goal of $4,500).
It could be a fun trinket to stuff in a stocking for that person who has everything, ‘cause they almost certainly haven’t got anything like this. And with tough stainless bristles, it could probably double as a dog brush.
As they say at Headgehog: “Keep combed, America.”
