‘Climbing Blind’ dives into the story of the first blind lead climb of Scotland’s Old Man of Hoy rock tower.
This U.K. film follows the story of Jesse Dufton as he attempts to be the first blind person to lead climb the Old Man of Hoy.
Jesse Dufton has put up first ascents in the Arctic and ice climbed in Norway. However, now he’s attempting to the Old Man of Hoy, a 449-foot sandstone sea stack off the north coast of Scotland. It’s one of the tallest stacks in the United Kingdom, with six pitches and a grade of 5.10a.
Inherent to the sport of climbing is the ability to understand a route, which Dufton can do by touch and with a sight guide. The 60-minute documentary is the main feature at the Brit Rock Film Tour, which premiers on October 24.
