Burning Man, Vegas, the Bonneville Salt Flats — the desert has always drawn outlaws and misfits to its vestige spaces. So it should be no surprise that ice climbers can be added to that list. Wait…ice climbers?
Last winter, 3 String Productions followed climbers Scott Adamson and Jesse Huey into the Zion outskirts in search of ephemeral ice lines that leach and fade inside a few days’ span. The product of their ambitions is a 12-minute film titled “Desert Ice.”
The film was shown at the New York Wild Film Festival, the International Mountain Film Festival, and the Telluride Mountain Fest as a 2014 official selection. It is proof that the cowboy-way still lives strong in the Utah desert.
