“Generally when I go on an ice climbing holiday, I don’t expect it to feel like Southern California.”

So says the reliably charming Will Gadd on his latest ice climbing adventure. That’s shortly after we see Gadd head-butt an iceberg that decided, somewhat presumptuously, to get in his way.

This time, Gadd explores the frozen walls of South Africa after seeing an Instagram post from fellow outdoorsman Timothy Larsen, who lauded the country’s wealth of “adventure activities.”

What Gadd found “blew him away,” says the description of his latest YouTube edit.

“The trip started with beach weather and ended with four new routes, two broken tents, baboons on top of the climbs, a frozen toe, and a whole lot of shared stoke with the most motivated ice climbers in the world,” the vid says.
