Can the World’s Strongest Man Rock Climb? Find Out

Watching a World's Strongest Man athlete go climbing should provide the definitive answer to the 'strength versus technique' question — shouldn't it?

You’d hope that if any video ever answered the age-old inquiry of whether rock climbing requires more strength or technique, it’d be this one.

But it’s not.

Cue the 2017 World’s Strongest Man, Eddie Hall. If the key to rock climbing success was strength, Hall would crush, right? Based on that argument, the answer would have to be yes.

However, it’s not that simple. Hall clearly knows how to grab hold and hang on tight, but he also exhibits good technique for a first-timer (in my humble opinion). Watch him backstep, flag, deadpoint, and even jab his feet back on from a campus position — accurately.

Hall ain’t Lynn Hill up there, but he’s also no chuffer.

Strength or technique? You be the judge.
