Vaea Verbeeck raced for 10 years before she became a pro mountain biker, and she still works hard every day to grow in the sport.

For Vaea Verbeeck, it took years of hard work and dedication to get close to a podium spot in the sport of downhill mountain biking. In this Shimano athlete film, Verbeeck talks about her personal growth and progression while shredding some lines along the way.

Being able to flawlessly flow through lines and ride with confidence takes years of practice. In 2019, Verbeeck won the Air DH at the Crankworx MTB festival and competition, earning herself the title “Queen of Crankworx.”

“You can just feel that you are getting attention because you’re a girl,” she said. “So I just put my head down.”

To her, that meant riding every day, practicing skills she had already mastered, training, and more. “It’s really as simple as setting a goal and doing it.”

In this short film, she rides everything from pump tracks to steep backcountry lines. On the bike, her focus and control are as obvious as her passion for the sport.
