Burton Mine77 2021 Fleece Pants & Jacket
Each year, Timi Carpenter continues the legacy of his father Jake Burton Carpenter‘s vision with the Mine77 drop. This year, we’re especially loving the Sherpa Fleece Pant & Jacket ($150 each), made with Italian sherpa fleece, and finished with zippered hand pockets and nylon color-blocking in a “couch-to-concert vibe” color scheme. Check out the Mine77 collection here.
Cannondale Scalpel HT Hi-Mod 1
Cannondale just released the Scalpel HT line, marketed as a “new breed of XC hardtail.” On the top-end HT Hi-Mod 1 model, the differentiators are obvious (i.e., the Lefty Ocho suspension fork) as well as subtle, including a “progressive” frame geometry and flex zones in the chainstays to reduce chatter. There are four models, starting at $2,200. The flagship HT Hi-Mod 1 model ($5,000) comes fast and light out of the box at just over 21 pounds.
Beyond Clothing Ultra Lochi K3 Jacket
Beyond Clothing’s Ultra Lochi K3 Jacket ($225) is reversible, with an adjustable hood and weather-resistant fabrics on both sides. It also uses 100% postconsumer-recycled-content PrimaLoft Black Bio insulation as well as a lightweight 20-denier ripstop construction. Its claimed weight is 17.6 ounces (size large).
Alex Hall x Spyder Eyewear NFX Goggles by Dragon
Spyder Eyewear has partnered with pro freeskier Alex Hall to make some collab goggles. The Spyder x Dragon x Alex Hall NFX Goggles ($130) have a classic alpine sweater print, Alex Hall signature on the inner strap, and a bonus lens.
Opinel No. 12 Explore Knife
Opinel just introduced a new knife with a unique (and if you live on the Pacific or East coasts, a helpful) function. The No. 12 Explore Knife ($49) has an integrated tick remover. The 3.98-inch folding knife has a stainless steel blade, a whistle, a twine cutter, a lanyard loop, and, the star of the show, a dual-sized tick remover.
Ten Thousand Insulated Tech Jacket
Run brand Ten Thousand is back with an Insulated Tech Jacket designed for high-intensity cold-weather activity. The Insulated Tech Jacket ($278) has a windproof and water-resistant shell with a DWR finish, PrimaLoft Gold insulation, and an anti-odor treatment on the interior. And it has Ten Thousand’s signature Every Session Carry Pocket System — six functional pockets throughout.
ALVA Hands-Free Lighting
The ALVA Hands-Free Lighting (preorder for $35) is one of the coolest crowdfunding campaigns we’ve seen recently. The ALVA light, weighing just 9 g, can be worn on your wrist, ankle, and other places to let you go hands-free while still being seen. The light LED light offers 30-110 lumens, is weatherproof, and also has GoPro-compatible and keyring attachments for more practical ways to wear it.
Adventure Mate AM-V2 Multitool
Adventure Mate just launched its latest creation, the AM-V2 ($240). A level up from a Leatherman, it has one handle that attaches into different tool heads, giving you an axe, a saw, a shovel, a hammer, and a hook all in one. For 2021, updates include a redesigned shovelhead and two colors. Each tool attachment locks into place, and Adventure Mate welds, powder coats, and assembles all the tools in the U.S. Plus, for every tool the brand sells, it plants five trees.
BARE Heat-Reactive Wetsuits
BARE’s heat-reactive, graphene-fabric wetsuits (from $480) are not what I picture when I think wetsuits — these are a thing of the future. The Reactive Wetsuits use Graphene OMNIRED, a textile that warms the wearer using their own body heat. The Reactive is also made from a sustainable limestone-based foam and uses dope-dyed fibers to cut pollution. The wetsuits come in three thicknesses and 15 sizes (S-4XL as well as short and tall sizes).
