Europe bound! This week, I am heading to France and the annual Kilian’s Classik Passion, an ultra trail run race through the Pyrenees mountain range. The event, part of a four-day “camp” sponsored by Salomon, will trace a steep, 45km route in the mountains above the village of Font-Romeu.
The name for this race comes from Kilian Jornet, one of the world’s top ultra runners. He will be in Font-Romeu along with a dozen other notable athletes for the week to talk training, racing, and gear.
Stay tuned for updates from the event, including a race report and conversations with the athletes attending the event. My race is this Saturday, July 7. The tough course will climb thousands of feet and trace around high peaks near Font-Romeu. Wish me luck as I lace up and run high into the Pyrenees to race the course! —Stephen Regenold
