You may have heard of ‘Vans Off The Wall,’ but what about Vans On Wheels?
That’s what’s up in New York City these days, thanks to a gonzo marketing campaign you’d be hard-pressed to miss. The “Vans vans” hit the streets recently and pounded pavement all over the city.
Er, more like they rolled over it. Enter the Sk8-Hi MTE-3, two vehicles that amount to monstrous, drivable Vans high-tops. Signature touches are all in place, from the checkerboard patterning on the upper ankle to the textured rubber toe cap.
And, according to Miami-based marketing agency GUT, construction is on point: a LinkedIn post specified 3M Thinsulate and Gore-Tex “to withstand the harshest weather conditions.”
From the looks of things, it worked. The legendary California skate shoe company shared footage of the Sk8-Hi MTE-3s cruising on snowy byways and making appearances at high-profile spots like the Brooklyn Bridge and the Lincoln Tunnel.

A giveaway for the new boots kept the action popping. “Hey, New York City, what do you wanna do, we’re givin’ out Vans in a van!” shouted influencer Lil’ “Mo” Mozzarella.
Can’t make this stuff up, folks.
