There are a lot of parts you can throw at a Jeep Wrangler to make it even more capable and adventure ready. The new Wrangler JL had the aftermarket abuzz at the 2018 SEMA Show, and new parts were abundant and impressive.
The following are some of the new Jeep Wrangler JL parts that you might want to consider for your next build. Whether you want a soft-top, impact protection, a plush suspension, or locking valuables storage, we’ve got you covered.
American Expedition Vehicles Front Bumper
For many years, American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) has been a leader in quality engineered aftermarket parts for Jeep Wranglers. At SEMA this year, the brand showed off a full line of impressive parts for the new JL. Very soon, AEV will offer a front winch bumper, rear bumper with tire carrier, 2.5-inch suspension lift, snorkel, and 17 x 8.5-inch wheels. Skid plates, fender flares, and more are also likely coming soon.
The part that most impressed me was the modular front bumper, made of hot-stamped boron steel. That makes it crazy lightweight — 20 pounds lighter than the current AEV JK bumper — and extremely durable. It can be built as a full-width or stubby-style bumper and has an integrated skid plate with LED light bar mount and winch tray. Stout recovery and high lift points are standard. This bumper is ready for use in extreme conditions and will look good doing it.
GoRhino Trailline Lift-Assist Spare Tire Carrier
When you lift a Jeep and put big tires on it, you need a solid place to carry a full-size spare. That spare-and-wheel combo is going to be heavy, so it’s important to be able to easily load and unload it. GoRhino has developed a rear-bumper-mounted, swing-out tire carrier that offers a solution.
Inside the swing-away mount, you’ll find a ratcheting cable winch that allows you to easily raise and lower the big, heavy spare to and from the ground. The tire carrier will retail for about $1,000, and the rear bumper is sold separately.
TrailReady Rear Bumper
TrailReady Bumpers makes burly off-road-ready bumpers for a wide range of vehicles. Its new rear bumper for the Jeep Wrangler JL is a full-width wrap design that offers great protection and high departure angle clearance. It is powder-coated steel and can be done in just about any color you can dream up. The brand designed it to work with the factory tow hitch receiver and allows 37-inch tires to fit on the door mount.
The TrailReady bumper will set you back $899. A bumper-mounted tire carrier option will add $799 to that.
Hi-Lift Trail Track
A Hi-Lift Jack is the industry standard for off-road recovery and tire swaps on lifted vehicles. A majority of lifted Jeeps used off road will carry one. A Hi-Lift is a big, heavy unit that can be awkward to find a good home for on your Jeep.
The new Hi-Lift Trail Track is a great solution for your new Wrangler JL. It is an interior mount for the rear roll-cage, which securely mounts your jack out of the way. It also features T-slot rails that allow you to attach a wide range of additional accessories. The Trail Track will hit the market in March for $130.
Tuffy Tailgate Lockbox
Tuffy Security has been the worldwide industry standard for vehicle lockboxes for decades. The company’s latest Tuffy Model 349 tailgate lockbox for the Jeep Wrangler JL incorporates a ton of awesome features into a heavy-duty, high-security product.
Not only is the new tailgate lockbox for securing gear, but it also acts as a work table that can support up to 40 pounds. Inside the welded 16-gauge steel enclosure, you get 2,700 cubic inches of secure storage. The Tuffy Model 349 retails for $299.
ARB Outback Solutions Drawer System
ARB is an Australian company that offers a wide range of off-road products. It now offers a full range of quality gear for the Jeep Wrangler JL. Everything from armor to snorkels, from suspension to storage solutions, is available.
One of the items that really caught my eye for the new Wrangler JL was the Outback Solutions Roller Drawer System. This drawer module is perfectly engineered to fit in the rear of the Wrangler JL and offer secure, locked storage. The drawer system retails for $1,100.
BesTop Sunrider
BestTop makes a ton of quality products for Jeeps and other vehicles, but most consumers know the brand for its soft-top Jeep solutions. The new BesTop Sunrider for the hardtop Jeep Wrangler JL replaces the front roof Freedom Panels with a retractable soft-top solution.
This setup allows for quick and easy open-air Jeep fun year round, without having to fuss with removing and storing the hard panels. The BesTop Sunrider retails for $700-800.
Icon Vehicle Dynamics 2.5-Inch Suspension System
Icon Vehicle Dynamics (IVD) makes super-high-end off-road suspension systems across a wide range of vehicles. The brand has developed a full bolt-on, 2.5-inch suspension lift kit for the new Jeep Wrangler JL that should provide a plush ride through the roughest terrain. It will also allow the fitment of larger tires and provide a compliant, controlled ride on pavement.
IVD offers this system in stage one through eight configurations. Stage eight is the ultimate system, and includes the following: 2.5-inch-lift, dual-rate coil springs; upgraded 2.5 Series remote reservoir shocks with compression damping control technology; tubular steel adjustable front upper links; fixed front lower links; fixed rear upper links; adjustable rear lower links; adjustable front and rear track bars; bump stop spacers; sway bar links; and all necessary hardware to complete the installation.
Stage one systems start at $1,223, and a stage eight system will set you back $5,191.
