Riding 525 miles on a bicycle is a solid physical challenge. Mark Massie made it tougher, opting to ride the entire California Coast Classic Bike Tour on a unicycle.

While others coasted down hills and climbed with the help of gears, Massie, a grandfather of five, pedaled every inch of the tour from San Francisco to Los Angeles over eight days balanced above a single 36-inch wheel.

The California Coast Classic Bicycle Tour is an eight day, full-service ride that meanders past wineries, lighthouses and beaches of the Pacific coast. The 2013 tour raised nearly $1 million for the Arthritis Foundation.
