[leadin]Stunning dash cam footage of vehicles fleeing a blaze in Alberta, Canada, captures a raging wildfire that has forced the evacuation of more than 80,000 residents from the town of Fort McMurray.[/leadin]

Eighty percent of homes have been destroyed in the Beacon Hill suburb in the south end of town, which is under the largest government-ordered evacuation in its history.

Low humidity and strong winds have prevented containment of the blaze, which began Sunday.

Alberta is home to sprawling forests and oil sands, the world’s third-largest oil reserves. The largest oil sands projects are north of Fort McMurray, which is in the middle of the oil sands region, while the worst of the flames are sweeping to the city’s south.
