Free Guided Hikes in All 50 States on New Year’s Day

More than a quarter-century after its launch, First Day Hikes will again ring in the new year with free guided adventures in every state.

Start the new year off on the right foot — and the left! State parks across America continue the January 1 tradition welcoming visitors to take part in free guided hikes.

Hikes and distances vary by park, but the National Association of State Park Directors assures there are options suitable for the entire family.

Guided activities will include mountain and hill climbing, beach walks, wildlife expeditions, bird watching, and forest hikes.
