Meeting a sudden and unexpected spike in indoor cycling amidst the COVID-19 crisis, Nike launches the SuperRep Cycle, a shoe specifically designed to accommodate the demands of a stationary bike workout.
There’s not much that Nike hasn’t done. The Oregon-based athletic brand has its swoosh on everything from track shoes and batting gloves to sweatpants and golf socks.
Nike entered an entirely new category: indoor cycling. The SuperRep Cycle joins the SuperRep family of fitness footwear with a construction tailored to at-home (and, one day, gym) workouts in the saddle.
Compatible with “major cleat systems” and toe cages, both common on stationary bicycles, the SuperRep Cycle looks to add more comfort to sweaty routines.

Nike’s reveal comes in the middle of a perfect storm for indoor cycling. In the last year, technology like Peloton and Zwift breathed new life into otherwise monotonous stationary bike workouts. That, coupled with the sudden shift to home-based exercise and routines necessitated by COVID-19, presents Nike a burgeoning new market.
The SuperRep Cycle targets two needs for the indoor rider: stability and breathability.
“To better address the needs of riders’ lateral and out-of-seat movements, a support arc on the shoe’s medial side helps keep feet secured during ‘Figure 8s’ or other side-to-side combinations out of the saddle,” Nike outlined in a press release.
The brand said the SuperRep Cycle works with both caged and clipped-in pedal systems.
Meanwhile, the upper’s construction comprises a “lightweight, translucid mesh” to help vent. Plus, a perforated built-in sock liner and vented bottom plate add further airflow. The SuperRep Cycle uses dual Velcro closure to secure the foot, and the sole has a textured toe plate and rubber studs to “provide traction while walking to and from the bike.”
Both men’s and women’s styles are available now. And Nike also released a women’s-exclusive orange and pink variant.
