Outerwear — Columbia Uniform. This is one set of garments that you can’t buy but have to earn. The Canadian freeski uniform was created by Columbia Sportswear and won’t be for sale in stores. It features the company’s Omni-Heat Thermal Reflective technology, a new kind of waterproof zipper bonded to laser-cut fabric, removable pockets for changing the look of a jacket, and customized colors and visual details to inspire the team.
Helmet — Roxy Gravity Zone Helmet. Howell wore a slightly modified (to pass Olympic branding rules) version of this ABS segmented zone flex shell constructed for protection, fit and ventilation. It has removable earpads and mesh-covered fixed venting.
Goggles — Roxy Rockferry. Another modified-for-the-Olympics product, Howell’s goggles were tweaked to remove some branding marks, but otherwise these are the same as you can buy now. The Rockferry offers 100% UV protection, a PU injected frame, and a distortion-free, shatter-resistant orbicular lens that is perforated for increased ventilation. $109.95-119.95 (depending on lens). She wore a nearly-clear lens and yellow frame in her Olympic win.
