There are a million sunglasses on the market. Those designed by outdoor brands typically combine performance technology into lifestyle frames, so they work on the trail, in town, or wherever adventure takes you.

Sunglasses for City, Trail, and Everyday Use

Oakley Frogskins Grips

Oakley pays homage to the brand’s first product, motorcycle handgrips, with the Frogskins Grips Collection. The collection sports a distinct triple-stripe pattern on the sides and a vintage design.

Shwood Kennedy City With Acetate Clip-On

Shwood is known for bold wood frames. The Kennedy City sunglasses, released August 10, have polarized lenses that prioritize clarity. And the frames are made in Italy from a blend of wood pulp and cotton fibers.

Sunski Recycled Collection

Sunski used recycled material to make the Portolas, Manresas, and Chalets. The shades, part of the aptly named Recycled Plastics Collection, are made from 100-percent recycled plastic and cost $68.

Kaenon Black & Gold Collection

Black frames, gold mirror lenses: Kaenon’s latest release features the tried and true color pairing. The gold-mirrored, brown-tinted polarized lens offers clarity, and the frames use Kaneon’e Matte Black Grip finish to stay snug on your face. Check out the Leadbetter, a classicly styled shade for $179.

Roka Torino

The Torino is another throwback pair with modern sports performance. Roka named the Torino after the city in Italy for its relevance in soccer and Olympic history. The brand made the sunglasses for athletes, with anti-scratch, anti-fog, and anti-reflective nylon lenses. We’ve been testing a few pairs of Rokas for months and been really impressed with the newcomer brand.

Vuarnet 03

In “The Big Lebowski,” Jeff Bridges (The Dude) wore Vuarnet 03 model sunglasses — a retro style with ’60s influence. Now Vuarnet updates the sunglasses with a lighter and thinner mineral glass lens from the original. It also sports a removable center nose bridge. The Vuarnet 03 is available now for $240.

Smith Lowdown 2

Smith redesigned the brand’s best-selling sunglass for fall with the Lowdown 2 ($169). The updated shades have nonslip nose pads and a thinner frame in the front. Smith’s ChromaPop lenses enhance detail and contras. They are available in a number of lens and frame colors.
