Obama to Narrate Upcoming Netflix Nature Series

Barack Obama has a new leadership role: as the host of a new documentary series from Netflix.

“Our Great National Parks” promises to be an ode to the planet’s natural wonders, big and small. It looks like the series will follow the “stun visually, then blow minds with science” formula common to the genre. The series will take a global perspective, focusing on national parks across five continents.

Who better to narrate it than former President Barack Obama, who, during his 8-year term, protected more than 260 million acres of U.S. public lands and waterways?

“When humanity started to protect these wild places, we did not realize how important they would become,” Obama recalled. “They’re a haven for endangered species and a hotbed for scientific research.”

Join the 44th president on a world tour of natural wonders. Season 1 kicks off on April 13.

Runtime: 2 minutes
