Sensor Shoe Analyzes Gait — Computer chips in shoes, for better or worse, have been done before. Altra offers a new take with its Halo running shoes — they have a tiny sensor system in the sole to quantitatively measure foot strike.
Foot strike, cadence, and ground force impact are measured, and data from the sensor is displayed on a smartphone app or a watch (the iFit Ridge GPS watch). The setup gives real-time or recorded feedback to better analyze your gait. ($180; fall 2015)
