‘Down On Steroids’ — We got an early-release TurboDown jacket from Columbia Sportswear to test in late 2013. The line launched officially at OR, and it’s unique because of a mixed-insulation formula including goose down and synthetic fill.

The brand’s reflective Omni-Heat material is used to add more warmth. As we wrote in our original post, the down and the synthetic fill on the TurboDown jacket exist in the same baffle; there is no material in between the two, and they are stacked on top of each other to form a billowy mass inside.

We have been impressed with the jacket in our testing so far. Fourteen items will be in the line, released later this year, with prices starting at $130 (and up to $325 at the top end) for a down/synthetic puffy.
