‘Best In Show’ Gear Awards (part I) From Outdoor Retailer Trade Show

PrimaLoft Down — There’s a trend in the jacket-insulation world to mix synthetic and natural fibers for performance and economy. PrimaLoft Performance Down Blends do it well, creating an insulation that is water resistant, compressible and longer lasting than pure-down options.

Synthetic fibers are added in with this treated down and the two are “intertwined” to make the mix. It will also offer “more favorable pricing for the end consumer” looking for a high-end insulated jacket, a PrimaLoft representative told us.

We tested the Gold Primaloft Down Blend on Revelstoke Mountain during a recent trip. It worked great in an initial try, and we see the option giving consumers a new insulating material type at a lower price than pure down.
