Six friends set out into Montana’s legendary Bob Marshall wilderness to float and fly fish the pristine South Fork Flathead River. Two days of hiking takes the crew 25 miles up the banks of this roadless river. On the third day the team inflates their pack rafts and begins the float on this wild river. The fishing does not disappoint, and the Wild Confluence crew dines on cutthroat trout each night.
The 4 day float back to the trailhead is cut short on the final night when the team learns that the nearby wildfires have begun to rage toward them. The out of control fire burns four miles away, nearly destroying their cars in the parking lot. The team is forced to evacuate – hiking thirty miles in a day over a seldom travelled 8,000 foot pass to escape the wildfire.
