The Gen4 is the smallest generation of SPOT yet. The new SPOT Gen4 ($150) is designed for those who travel off the grid and has enhanced tracking options, an upgraded mapping interface (with light and dark modes), and an IP68 waterproof rating. The coolest new feature is motion-activated tracking, which lets the Gen4 send tracking data at a chosen rate only when the device is turned on and moving, conserving battery life. The Gen4 will launch in July 2020.

This newer watch in G-SHOCK’s Mudmaster series is for those who can’t compromise on durability. The GGB100 watch ($380) is mud-resistant and has a bunch of cool features, like a carbon resin structure and bezel and a high-rigidity carbon case to protect against impact. The watch also has Quad Sensors to track temperature, altitude, steps, an integrated compass, and more. It works with the G-SHOCK app as well.

The Instinct X Vest ($160) is a 10L vest that combines all the features of the Instinct’s current packs but with even more refinement. The brand added new rustproof eyelets for the lacing, two front vertical zipper pockets, rear pole attachments, and a new “pivoting rear pocket” design. The vest, designed for longer runs and ultras, provides minimalist body contact and comes with or without flasks.

The Wave Rider 24 ($130) is the first running model released with Mizuno’s all-new midsole material, MIZUNO ENERZY. The brand claims this shoe has more cushion and responsiveness than previous models and is complete with a new engineered mesh upper. The Wave Rider 24 has a 12mm drop, a carbon rubber sole, midsole shock reduction, and more to help boost your ride.

MagLite’s latest venture is a series of backpacks built with the everyday adventurer in mind. The MagLite EDC Backpack ($145) has a hearty 1,000-denier and 400-denier CORDURA nylon construction. It has type 69 bonded thread throughout, with a water-repellent coating, YKK zipper pulls, paracord pulls, an elastic strap, daisy chains, and side pockets galore. The bag has a heavy-duty webbing carry handle as well.

The Bozeman is Oboz Footwear’s latest tribute to its mountain town home base. The Bozeman Low ($120) is made with a unique combo of REPREVE recycled materials, an algae bloom insole, Nubuck leather, an EVA midsole, and a TPU heel clip. The low-rise hikers have 3.5mm lugs. The Bozeman launches on August 4, will be available in men’s and women’s, and will also come in a mid style. Although we’re not in Bozeman, we’re still looking forward to testing these on the trail.

CamelBak’s new MultiBev ($48) recently got a 2020 Red Dot Design Award for its design. The vessel is essentially an all-in-one system for whatever drinks you may need throughout your day. It’s a fully insulated bottle with a separate drinking cup that screws into the bottom (both BPA-free and made with stainless steel). There’s also a leakproof lid that folds into the water bottle cap. The MultiBev is available in two sizes: a 22- and 16-ounce or a 17- and 12-ounce combo.

The Truss multitool ($50) is an all-inclusive multitool with 17 tools (all outboard, all locking) built into a “size-conscious” design. While compact, this is still a full-size multitool: with spring-loaded needle-nose pliers, wire cutters, wire strippers, a saw, a 2.25-inch plain-edge blade, a 2.25-inch serrated blade, a can opener, and more. With this tool, Gerber aims to reduce weight while retaining functionality.

Oakley’s new collab sunglasses feature a bold design from artist Meguru Yamaguchi — and every single pair is unique. The Kokoro (from $156) is meant to represent the unity of athletes of all abilities. The colorful shade collection comes in 12 styles and has lightweight nylon-infused plastic frames, Oakley’s Prizm lenses to enhance color, nose pads, and is compatible with interchangeable lenses.

The RovR KeepR Cooler ($140) introduces a new “open concept” for drinks on the go. The cooler is customizable and easy to use, with a rigid structure but moveable dividers to organize cups, bottles, ice, and more. The cooler bag is made with high-density foam, waterproof TPU, and dividers to separate wet and dry items. In the center is a 3-pound vacuum-sealed ice bucket. The KeepR is also waterproof.

5.11 Tactical’s new Defender Pants ($70) have been popular since their launch thanks to the durable seven-pocket design. The pants are made of 97% cotton and 3% elastane canvas with an enzyme wash and reinforced rivets, belt loops, and back yokes. The Defenders also have nylon-reinforced front hand pockets for durability and come in 10 sizes.

Founded earlier this year, Evergreen Equipment Co. makes outdoor apparel and gear. The Evergreen Daypack ($92 on sale) is a versatile 35L travel and adventure backpack made with a weather-resistant coated canvas and polyester lining. While it’s a little pricey for a daypack, keep in mind you’re supporting a small business and reforestation efforts. The brand plants a tree for each purchase made.
