Coronavirus Spurs Date Change to Sea Otter Cycling Fest

Trade shows across the U.S. are dropping like flies due to the ongoing viral outbreak of COVID-19.

Much to the dismay of cyclists and bike fanatics across the U.S., Sea Otter Classic has postponed its April event.

“After a thorough review of the coronavirus threat, we’ve decided to reschedule April’s Sea Otter Classic,” wrote event founder and CEO Frank Yohannan in an email. “Additionally, People for Bikes and Sea Otter Classic will reschedule the Bicycle Leadership Conference.”

Sea Otter Classic is coordinating with local authorities to figure out new dates for the event. The latest information regarding registration refunds and the new event dates can be found on Sea Otter Classic’s website.

It’s a smattering of cross-country, downhill, and endurance races, bike demos, sale expos, networking events, and more. The 2020 Sea Otter Classic is the latest show to be postponed or canceled due to coronavirus outbreaks in the U.S.

Multiple states and countries have declared states of emergency due to threats and outbreaks of the virus. So far, coronavirus has led to thousands of deaths abroad and, recently, several in the U.S.
