We’re part of the way through the month of May, and with it the clock is ticking for participation in our ‘Search for the Most Durable Person’ sweepstakes! Starting last week, and continuing until the end of the month, Gear Junkie presents this unique contest. The prize? An all-expenses-paid adventure trip to Utah with the CORDURA® brand team and the Gear Junkie crew this summer!
Entry is easy. Simply use the form on our new sweepstakes channel — https://gearjunkie.com/most-durable-person — to upload a quick story, photos, or a video and tell us why you or a friend/family member are among the outdoors’ “most durable” people.
This week, entries ranged from featuring mountain rescues and the Ironman, to “mud diving” in a North Carolina swamp. There is a post about a mishap on playground monkeybars — ouch! One entry begins “Mine is a story of comedic failures, but I’m still alive!” and continues later with “Imagine Dr. Magoo or Inspector Gadget, only with a lifelong, intense thirst for adventure and weighing 130 pounds, soaking wet, upon high school graduation. . . “. You get the picture.
Some entries have been serious, some funny. John Zacherl of Minneapolis started his case with “I think a single story would fail to capture the scope of my durability.” Zacherl went on to offer a list of “incidents that would have killed or at least lamed a less durable member of the human race.” Andy Thieman wrote about his battle this year with stage-two testicular cancer. He fought the pain and mental crush of chemotherapy by riding his bike and setting up a blog, “Blood+Sweat+Chemo.”
You don’t need to have fought cancer or climbed insane mountains to enter the contest. We’re looking for a range of stories, photos, and videos to highlight this month. Go to the sweepstakes channel — https://gearjunkie.com/most-durable-person — to upload your “durability story” today!
