In 2020, the miles meant more for many of us.
Boston hometown brand Tracksmith just launched “Running is a Gift.” The short film follows a powerful storyline of just how important putting down miles can be.
“I have movement. Breath. Daydreams. I have running,” the narrator chants in cadence with the film.
The miles we collectively put down this year were pretty powerful — whether we racked them up doing laps as an ER nurse, jogging through empty neighborhood streets during lockdown, or marching for social or environmental justice causes.
“For Gavin, a school principal, they’re a way to deepen his connection with his community. For Sam, a nurse, they’re a respite from the daily challenges of work,” reads the film description. “For Ash, a photojournalist, they’re a reminder that each battle is fought in the moment. For Mary, an elite runner, they’re a road back to where she wants to be.”
The runners are Gavin Smith, Mary Cain, Ashley Gilbertson, and Sam Roecker. Catherine Bull edited the short, and Emily Maye directed.
