Nissan’s Electric ‘Adventure’ SUV Concept Can Transport Skis, Bikes, and Lots More Gear

Ever heard of “vehicle-to-everything” capabilities? Me neither, but apparently it means using an electric battery for more than sustainable driving. That’s one of the primary features of most newer electric vehicles (EVs), including this Hyper Adventure concept from Nissan that will debut at the Japan Mobility Show on Oct. 25.

This sporty SUV prototype aims for an interesting niche in the outdoor adventure vehicle market — if van life isn’t for you, maybe this SUV concept is. On top of that, it comes with a large-capacity battery that doubles as an external energy source for gadgets, campsite illumination, or even electric jet ski recharging.

It can also supply power to homes and potentially contribute excess energy to local grids, Nissan said in an Oct. 10 announcement. For those looking to explore a remote wilderness, Nissan said the vehicle can also handle rough terrain.

The futuristic design presented in these renderings certainly evokes a vehicle that could handle a moon landing — much less a trip to Alaska or your local trailhead.

Nissan ‘Hyper Adventure’ Details

For traversing diverse landscapes, Nissan incorporated its e-4ORCE all-wheel-control system. According to the company, the system can handle both snowy mountain passes and off-road trails. The Nissan booth at the Japan Mobility Show, in fact, will have a “hyper reality experience” in full swing for visitors. The experience will include interactive presentations, like an e-4ORCE all-wheel-control driving simulator … of course, that’s if you plan to be in Yokohama, Japan.

The vehicle exterior is heavy on aerodynamic designs, with distinctive diagonal lines on the sides and a blend of the roof and side windows. Moreover, the wheels and bumpers come equipped with crampons for safely navigating snowy roads.

Inside, the concept with have a spacious two-row cabin with storage options suitable for outdoor equipment like tents, kayaks, skis, and bikes. The rear bench seat can rotate 180 degrees, allowing for a more communal sitting area. This design also includes automatic, extendable steps.

More details will likely emerge when the vehicle gets its official debut at the Japan Mobility Show later this month.
