If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it — the old mantra applies in many situations, including well-made outdoor gear.
A new award from CORDURA® Brand Fabric recognizes “a commitment to crafting high-performance products” that use its materials.
Last month, the Durable Design Achievement Award was presented to Dan Cruikshank and Jeff Knight of Granite Gear.
Granite Gear is a northern Minnesota company that’s been making packs for more than a quarter century.
Knight and Cruikshank co-founded Granite Gear in 1986 after a paddling trip into Canada’s Quetico Park. For 25+ years, their team has been making products that have included CORDURA® brand fabric.
I’ve got a couple of these tough-as-nails packs, and I’ve used one daypack on and off for 15 years — it still works like a champ.
Most recently, Granite Gear introduced its Quetico Canoe Portage Pack made with 210D CORDURA® Lite fabric. The 82-liter pack “brings together the heritage of their inspirational Quetico paddling trip beginnings,” the company states.
