The perks of being a gear tester for GearJunkie is the constant, revolving door of new gear. Rarely do I shop gear sales because I’ve got way too much gear in the pile already. Today though, I really considered buying some gear on sale — the deal is that good.
Pau Hana’s Solo Backcountry SUP, normally $899, is on sale now at REI for 60% off — just 359 bucks.
For big-ticket items like bikes, skis, and paddleboards, sale prices typically hover around 10-30%, maybe 40% if you get lucky with a Semi-Annual sale or Black Friday deal. But 60% off for a highly technical, streamlined, ultralight SUP?
We’ve tested and reviewed the Pau Hana Solo Backcountry SUP, and for years, it was the most packable, lightest SUP on the market. (Until the Kokopelli Chasm Lite came on the scene in 2023 — a 10-foot board under 13 pounds.)
Still, the Pau Hana is high on my list and should be on yours, too, when it comes to ultra-packable, portable, inflatable SUPs.
This Pau Hana SUP Is 60% Off
The Pau Hana Solo Backcountry SUP is 10 feet 10 inches. It comes with a paddle, pump, fins, and a 50L drybag backpack — and it only weighs 14.8 pounds for the board. The whole package with the 50L carry bag and accessories is an impressive 23 pounds. It has a 240-pound weight limit.
Even for a low-profile, lightweight SUP, the Pau Hana Solo is decked out in features. It has a neoprene grab handle for easy portaging, front and rear bungee tie-downs, a large textured PVC traction pad, reinforced D-rings, a leash, and a twin-fin design. The included soft-blade paddle is nylon and fiberglass and is adjustable.
Overall, you will likely never find a deal this good on a lightweight SUP like this one.
Here’s the rub: the 60% sale price is due to the model being discontinued. So, if you are considering buying this SUP, now’s your last chance to get it for an amazing price.
