Jana Garnbret Swept the Climbing World Cup; Narasaki Took the Men’s Title

Fixed Gear Racers Take on ‘Tulsa Tough

The Saint Francis Tulsa Tough is a wild three-day cycling festival in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and while it has brought thousands of people to the city to race in criteriums and Gran Fondo races, along with fun family rides, this year it launched a whole new spectacle — the Red Bull Last Stand. An exciting new format, the course consisted of two separate elimination points where the last place rider was taken out of the race until just one rider remained to take the final celebration lap and all of the glory.

Trail Runners Competed in World Championships

Jonathan Albon of Great Britain and Blandine L’Hirondel of France won individual titles at the IAU Trail World Championships in Miranda do Corvo, Portugal, on Saturday. Albon covered the 44km loop course with 2,200 m of ascent in 3:35:35. His finish was 2:13 in front of French runner-up Julien Rancon. Christan Mathys of Switzerland’s took third for the men. L’Hirondel took the women’s field in 4:06:18 — 8:12 ahead of Ruth Croft of New Zealand. Spain’s Sheila Aviles took third.
