HIKING: Hiker Found 2 Weeks after Going Missing in Zion National Park. Holly Courtier, a 38-year-old California woman, disappeared into Zion National Park on October 6. Her family reported her missing that day, and park officials had been looking for her since then. On Saturday, search and rescue crews found Courtier within Zion National Park. Park rangers received a “credible tip” from a park visitor that they had seen Courtier within the park. She has been reunited with her family.

FISHING: Record Lake Trout an Environmental Win. Jeffery Sanford set a new lake record when he pulled a 19.36-pound lake trout in the Vermont portion of Lake Champlain. But beyond being large, the fish was notable as it had no scars from sea lampreys. The enormous, unscathed trout heralds the successful long-term efforts to control the parasitic species. RUNNING: New 48-Hour Women’s US Record. Marisa Lizak, 41, of Marina del Rey, California, ran a whopping 243.5 miles in 48 hours last week to set the new U.S. record. She beat the old record by a little more than one mile. Read the full story here.

RUNNING: 85-Year-Old Sets New Mile Record. Ian Barnes just gave everyone notching up the years a little more inspiration to stay fit. The 85-year-old from Britain set a new national over-85s’ British mile record on Saturday, October 10, of 8 minutes, 10.40 seconds. Learn more here.

CLIMBING: Nepalis Summit Baruntse. While few foreign expeditions can climb the Himalayas this season, the local Nepal Tourism Recovery Expedition 2020 summited 7,129m Baruntse last week. The seven-member team, led by Dawa Steven Sherpa, left Camp 2 on Thursday and reached the top shortly after noon. Read the full story at ExplorersWeb.
